At Yellowstone Family Adventures, each Adventure Guide has unique and specialized training, in addition to various personal and professional experiences that make them the perfect fit for your private adventure! Dedicated, organized and passionate, our guides oversee every detail of your itinerary and they are an indispensable part of your exploration of Yellowstone.
Stewardship: Our guides’ passion and respect for Yellowstone and the Montana region is contagious, so we hope the same goes for their practice of Leave No Trace principles, use of the most environmentally friendly outdoor technology and their commitment to wilderness etiquette!
Safety: Each of our guides carries a minimum of Wilderness First Responder safety training, so that they can recognize, prevent and treat wilderness medicine emergencies. Each team member undergoes a vigorous background check and submits to random drug and alcohol testing. We also outfit each guide and vehicle with an extensive first aid kit and safety equipment, so you can focus on the rich and authentic Yellowstone experience knowing that your family is in good hands.

David D. Furry II has been working as an outdoor adventure guide, fly fishing guide, backpacking guide, sightseeing and naturalist guide and also in the hospitality industry in National Parks for 10 years. He started working in National Parks at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and he has fine tuned his guiding craft in the wild wilderness of Yellowstone National Park and the majestic mountains of Yosemite National Park. He specializes as a fly fishing and naturalist guiding and his years of backpacking experience leads him into the serene sections of Yellowstone, the Montana mountains and Yosemite National Park and the Sierras on a regular basis.
Even with many years as an adventure guide under his belt and thousands of miles hiked in National Parks, David says his most successful adventure in life is being the father of two amazing children and the husband to a strong, successful and loving Moldovian wife! He met his wife Anna years ago in Yellowstone National Park and their love for each other grew in the back country of Yellowstone after many overnight trips and exciting adventures into the wilderness. |
Family, friends and adventure are what drive him in life and he is dedicated to providing a first class, one of a kind experience to everyone of his guests because he knows that nature does more then provide beautiful scenery for them to enjoy, it can, and will heal the heart and captivate the soul.
Why did you decide to become an outdoor adventure guide?
As a kid, I would only came inside when the food was on the table, and even then, it was a struggle for my mom to round me up. I was always outside catching animals and insects, studying plants, climbing trees and teaching myself survival techniques; you could say that nature was my playstation. I studied Cultural Anthropology in College and I decided to follow that passion into the National Parks, where I've lived and worked for over 15 years now. Being an outdoor enthusiast, I was always leading friends into the wilderness on exciting adventures and it was during one such trip that I realized how much I enjoyed sharing my passion for nature with others and so I decided to see if I could make a career out of it....And here I am! :)
What are some of your hobbies?
First and foremost, being a husband and dad is my number one hobby; I am most certainly a "Family First" kind of man! When I happen to find free time from my main hobby, I enjoy regular fly fishing and competition fly fishing, gold mining, playing guitar, backpacking, golf, hiking, photography, Texas Holdem and entrepreneurship.
What are three essential items you bring on multiple overnights into the backcountry?
If I don't have to count the main three "must have's" - food, water and a good pair of hiking boots, I will not go multiple days into the backcountry without tiger balm, gold bond and ibuprofen. :) There is nothing worse than being three days from any trail head with a sore back, pulled calf and a "Hot Bum"! Beauty is hard to enjoy when your in pain. :)
Why did you join Yellowstone Family Adventure?
I joined Yellowstone Family Adventures because I wanted to work for a guiding company that always go's out of their way to make sure every guest has a wonderful, one of a kind experience! They make each team member feel like part of the family and it says a lot that a small family business has chosen to use a "profit sharing" platform to reward their team members.
